2000s History Timeline

2001

  • February 2001
    • On February 8, 2001, UHCL signed a memorandum of understanding with NASA Johnson Space Center and the National Archives Records Administration for the safekeeping of Johnson Space Center History Collection. UHCL promised to house the collection and provide access for the public.
  • UHCL partnered with the NASA Johnson Space Center to construct new UHCL Archives offices, a reading room, and a collections storage room to house the JSC History Collection.

2002

  • UHCL Archives, NASA Johnson Space Center and the National Archives Records Administration signed a Space Act Agreement to manage the Johnson Space Center History Collection.

  • May 2002
    • Karen Wielhorski became the new Executive Director of the Alfred R. Neumann Library.
  • July 2002
    • On July 18, 2002, NASA Johnson Space Center and UHCL Neumann Library celebrated the relocation of the Johnson Space Center History Collection to the UHCL Archives and Special Collections by hosting an open house.
