On February 8, 2001, UHCL signed a memorandum of understanding with NASA Johnson Space Center and the National Archives Records Administration for the safekeeping of Johnson Space Center History Collection. UHCL promised to house the collection and provide access for the public.
UHCL partnered with the NASA Johnson Space Center to construct new UHCL Archives offices, a reading room, and a collections storage room to house the JSC History Collection.
2002
UHCL Archives, NASA Johnson Space Center and the National Archives Records Administration signed a Space Act Agreement to manage the Johnson Space Center History Collection.

July 2002
On July 18, 2002, NASA Johnson Space Center and UHCL Neumann Library celebrated the relocation of the Johnson Space Center History Collection to the UHCL Archives and Special Collections by hosting an open house.
