1990s History Timeline

1990

  • UHCL Archives opened as a fully operational university archives. Chancellor Alfred R. Neumann’s records were the first archival collection arranged and described for the public.

1992

  • Dr. Michael M. Lee left Neumann Library in 1992.

  • Patricia J. Garrett, Associate Dean of Public Services, assumed the position of Interim Director of Neumann Library in 1992 after Dr. Lee’s departure.

1994

  • In August 1994, Dr. S. Joe McCord accepted the role of Executive Director of UHCL Neumann Library and started the position shortly after.

1995

  • Spring 1995
    • UHCL Neumann Library upgraded its computer hardware to enable access to the Internet in the library for the first time.
    • After adding Internet, Neumann Library joined the TexShare program in 1995, a statewide resource-sharing consortium of hundreds of member libraries in Texas administered by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
