Incoming freshmen and new students: start here to use library resources

The library was named for the University's founding chancellor, president, and noted scholar Dr. Alfred Neumann. His portrait hangs on the main floor of the library near the Research Services desk.

The library occupies part of the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Bayou Building. There is just one entrance, located on the Bayou Building 2nd floor near Atrium 1.

A Few Basics

Your UHCL ID card is your library card. Use it to borrow books, DVDs, and more from us and also from the libraries at University of Houston and University of Houston-Downtown.

Use your UHCL username (example: jonest1234) and UHCL password:

  • to authenticate from off-campus to access research databases, ejournals, ebooks, and streaming videos
  • to sign in to your OneSearch account where you can renew borrowed items, request materials from other campuses, and more
