Services for Faculty

Information Literacy Services

Librarians offer a variety of information literacy services for faculty at the Pearland and Clear Lake Campuses. Librarian class visits and instructional resources improve students' critical thinking and information literacy skills, including how to find, use, and evaluate informational resources. Librarians partner with faculty to design course-specific learning outcomes grounded in information literacy outcomes. Please see below for three information literacy services:

5 Minute Librarian Visit

We come to your classroom, introduce ourselves and share with your students when and how to reach out to us for support.

Course Guide Request Form

Please allow two weeks for creation of a course guide.

Library Course Guides are specific to your course and provide access to resources all in one place for your students. The course guide will include videos and resources for your class assignment. Videos allow students to go at their own pace and allow access at their time of need. We can create quizzes that assess student learning.

Information Literacy Sessions

Please submit this request two weeks in advance.

An experiential learning session covering information literacy concepts such as why and how information is created, engaging in inquiry and reflection, and searching is a process. The information literacy concepts are based on the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. Information literacy sessions are created in alignment with an assignment from your course. We ask that you provide your syllabus, details of the assignment, and proposed dates and times for the session. With that date in mind, we ask you to share the progress your students will have made leading up to the assignment.
