UHCL Course Reserves
Neumann Library carries reserve copies of books, articles, DVDs, and videos for many courses at UHCL. Textbook reserves are supplied by UHCL faculty and kept at the campus library of their choice. Faculty may also request that library-owned books, DVDs, videos, and database articles be placed on reserve.
Current UHCL students, faculty and staff may borrow any reserves. Students, faculty and staff from other UH campuses may borrow reserves for in-library use only. Reserves are not available for community patrons (TexShare, Affiliates).
Reserve items may be borrowed for 2 hours, 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, or 21 days, depending on instructor preference.
Reserve items cannot be placed on hold or renewed.
Because reserve items are intended for an entire class, they may not be checked out again by the same student until other students have had an opportunity to use them.
- A 2-hour loan reserve cannot be borrowed by the same person until 30 minutes after it is returned. If an additional copy of the reserve title is available at the time of return, it may be borrowed without the 30 minute wait.
- A reserve item with a loan period of 1 - 21 days may not be borrowed by the same person until 24 hours after it has been returned.
- Course reserves with a 2-hour loan period accrue fines of $0.50 per hour overdue.
- Course reserves with a 1 - 21 day loan period accrue fines of $2.00 per day overdue.
