Outreach Assessment: Home

Philosophy of Assessment (from UHCL Libraries Strategic Plan)

The vision of the assessment program at the UHCL Libraries is to facilitate continual improvement in the Libraries’ resources and services and to illustrate the value of the library to the University and the community we serve.  Assessments of outcomes at the UHCL LIbraries will be conducted periodically and will provide us with reliable evidence-based data to make informed decisions for improvement and validate desired outcomes are being met.

Outreach Statement

Outreach refers to the delivery of programs, services, activities, or expertise to those in the university community and other area partners. It may also involve library staff collaboration with other university departments and can be held inside or outside the physical library spaces.

Data Collected from UHCL Libraries Outreach Events

Outreach efforts are extremely valuable to our library.  To better analyze our outreach efforts, all library staff are required to capture and input data into Springshare’s LibInsight dataset called "*Outreach & Programming Events - (FY23 - Current)".

This data will be analyzed by the Assessment Librarian. LibInsight is the tool our library uses to house these datasets.

The following data points are collected:

  • Start date & time
  • End date & time
  • Event Name
  • Location
  • Total Number of Attendees
  • Room Location (may be multiple room locations)
  • Collaboration
  • Total number of attendees
  • Time to prepare
  • Library staff
  • Category
  • Audience
  • Outreach Learning Outcomes

* Examples of information to be used in these fields are provided in the LibInsight form and in the "Standards to UHCL Libraries Outreach Events" document
