Lillie D. Shockne

This Breakthrough Women in Science and Medicine program spotlights the impact of two-time cancer survivor and breast cancer expert Lillie D. Shockney. After a less-than-exceptional experience as a mastectomy patient and breast cancer survivor, Lillie was inspired to combine her passion for patient care with her experience as an oncology nurse. Lillie has dedicated her life to ensuring breast cancer patients receive the best medical, physical, and emotional care. She has climbed to the highest levels in healthcare in order to reach as many patients as possible. She is the Administrative Director of the Johns Hopkins Breast Center and Cancer Survivorship Programs, she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery and Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, co-founder of the Academy of Nurse & Patient Navigators and the Johns Hopkins’ Managing Cancer at Work Program.
