Welcome! This guide provides CLHS Advanced Placement Capstone Seminar students with information about how to use the UHCL Neumann Library as well as some starting points and strategies for your research.

Library hours

Using Neumann Library

Guest users may access research databases only from the library's public workstations. Use the "Other User" log in and the following username and password:

Username: library\public
Password:  L1bguest

The library provides free of charge:

  • Two KIC Scanners for saving to a USB flash drive or emailing
  • Both are located just inside the library entrance

Printing from a public workstation costs 10¢ per page and requires purchase of a copy card from the dispenser near the Research Consultation Desk.

  • Initial purchase of card is $1 with a preloaded value of 50¢
  • Value may be added in increments of $1, $5, or $10 

To print a document, make sure the selected printer is "Printer." Once you've clicked Print:

  • A dialog box will open and ask you to name the job
  • Use any name you'll recognize
  • Go to a print release station (marked with a pink sign)
  • Insert your copy card into the card reader
  • Select your job from the list that appears on the monitor
  • Click "Print Document"
  • Retrieve your copy card

Photocopies cost:

  • 15¢ per page if using cash (copiers take nickels, dimes, quarters, and $1 coins or bills)
  • 10¢ per page if using a copy card

When you need a break:

  • Patio Cafe on first floor of Bayou Building
  • Lounge with vending machines: Room 1405 on first floor of Bayou Building
  • In the library: food is permitted in the Hawks' Overlook area on main floor; beverages must have secure lids

Visitor Lots

Visitor parking any day of the week includes Lot R and designated curbside spaces, all of which require the display of a temporary visitor's permit. Purchase permits with a debit or credit card at parking pay station/kiosks (2 hours = $2.50; 4 hours = $4.00; all day = $5.00).

Weekend Parking

From 12:00 noon on Friday through Sunday, when permit requirements are not enforced in student lots, visitors also may park at no charge in Lots D, G & J only.
