Edible Book Festival

Edible Book Festivals happen all over the world, around April 1st. The International Edible Book Festival is held on or around April 1st for the birthday of French gastronome Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (1755-1826), famous for his book Physiologie du gout, a witty meditation on food.

Festivals are a celebration of books, art, food, and culture. The main rules for entries are fairly simple:

1. Entries must be made from edible materials.
2. Entries must somehow relate to a book.

The second rule can be interpreted broadly. Entries could be in the shape of a book, scroll, eReader, or other format; they can represent any part of the book from title, to character, to setting, to author. Many participants also choose to incorporate a play on words using puns!

Schedule of the Day

9am-11:30am: Participants drop off entries at the library.

12pm: Viewing and Judging of entries 

1pm: Prizes will be handed out

The library will provide a few treats for you to enjoy.
